I own a 2005 ford e350 passenger van for my business and the last couple of days it has started a clicking noise at idle. Hoping one of you more familiar with this engine can point me in the right direction. At first I thought it was a valve clicking noise but it seems to disappear upon acceleration. Oddly enough if I put the vehicle into reverse with the brake on at idle it does not make the sound. If it is in drive or park at the same RPM (with the brake on) the sound is back. Help please!
I got under the vehicle and the noise seems to be coming from around the oil pan. I am not having any issues with transmission slippage or any of the other physical symptoms associated with a bad torque converter.
