Nut & Bolt Supply

I was referred to this site by a fellow wrencher. It has regular grade stainless hardware(18-8) for less than half that of ACE (At these prices I can afford to use grade 316). Same with grade 8! www.boltdepot.com Fight the Rust, 'cause Bump Lives Matter!!

I have replacing many of the engine bolts that bolts on all the outer engine accessory like the intake manifold, water pump, timing cover, Pan & valve covers.

Which, I did for one reason or another, like one SS bolts have less heat transfer Vers. steel bolts, this was one reason for me using them on the intake to help stop any heat soak.
Also replaced some, I've had trouble getting loose in a few areas on the body areas.

Well I was surprised at the cost difference, between them and ACE. I paid $46 for a box of 100 5/16 X 1 stainless hex head bolts. Bolt depot only wants $16 or 17 for the same thing! Now I agree that regular stainless bolts (18-8) is not as strong as grade 5 steel bolts- but at these prices I can afford to go grade 316 stainless (which is slightly stronger than grade5) and still not pay as much as I did at ACE.

I forget what, I paid for the ss Fe bolt kit that I got off the net or ebay but thing it was with in $20-29$ bucks back in 09 then whit out digging through a pill of receipts.

And in a off the wall thinking since the bolts are SS in a miss guided way of thing that SS standard bolts have a higher hardening or breakage grade level whit out really giving it a great deal of though about it.

But once you start looking into the true tensile level of the bolt torque usage it's like wow was enlightening that, I had though for yrs just assume out the door they way of thinking they were much of a stronger bolt.

Yup it's just that, a assumption!!

A person needs to do their home work to get the correct grade level for their usage.
