1976 F150 DEQ Requirements (P-land)
After a long, hard winter I'm putting some parts (and money) together to get my 76 ready for daily driver status. Step 1) get it registered and deal w the DEQ...does anyone have specific knowledge pertaining to this model year of F150 or bigger regarding DEQ hassles?
I don't mean to be condescending, but 0% of the "old car" guys I've talked to seem to get it that the F150 was emissions exempt from the get-go and has ZERO emissions junk on it from factory new...no cat(s), no A.I.R. pump, no egr...nuthin', it was designed that way.
Is this going to cause me a problem?

1975 or newer..........
State of Oregon: Vehicle Inspection - Prepare for the Test
State of Oregon: Vehicle Inspection - Test Methods
There are links within the pages and one of those gives the specific things they are looking for or looking for a lack of...........
I'm not in the zone so don't really worry about it. Hope this is they type of info you are looking for. You may have to call or stop in and talk to someone at the test stations to see exactly what they would be testing a 1976 F150 for.

Thanks, Seabiscuit-P3...appreciate the effort and the links. Unfortunately they provide very general information (I think I've read pretty much every word the DEQ has ever written at this point) and I was hoping for something more year/model specific.
I don't think OR has gone full-retard yet (CA is requiring retrofitting in some cases), but I'm not sure. My current DD is an 89 and passed easily but it is injected and 100% stock. The '76 in question has headers and a carb. Just trying to not get blind-sided by some government functionary who may or may not know wtf he's talking about.
Thanks again for the reply...never hurts to get familiar w the statutes.

Yeah, I may need to do that...or just take it in. Calling and talking to a real person who knows something is almost an extict activity anymore. ..press 1 for this, press 2 for that, see our FAQs page on our website...
I've lost faith in the system, I just don't trust it anymore. What one person tells you may be the letter of the law or it may be their opinion. I'm not talking about you, I'm talking about actual state employees.
ETA: just got off the phone w DEQ and was told that they are aware of the exempt status of the F150 and will test accordingly...good news, we aren't KA yet!

Now she's an ex and I'm so jammed-up with alimony I may NEVER get out of here.
BTW, she told me I was selfish for having concerns about moving "into town". I will NEVER let that happen again.

The only person that I see as "selfish" is the one who wants to gravitate toward the "big" city lights. Being born and raised "country", something about that just seems criminal!
P.S. Alimony Solution
P.S. Alimony Solution
- Plan a shark fishing expedition
- Find her a new husband!
- Go shark fishing
- Go deep sea crabbing
- Chum for sharks

As you might imagine, I agree w you 100%. I don't think she'll ever remarry until the alimony is canceled and I have to wait for this particular judge to retire, die, or get de-benched (whatever it's called), I've already wasted enough money at the Multnomah Co courthouse for now.

I've heard that divorce is a b&*%h and very expensive for the male half, so I've only tried the marriage thing once and held onto it for 38 1/4 years so far. We had a very long courtship and really investigated the pro's and cons.
Actually, we went on a first date on a Tuesday after I got out of a Senior Staff NCO meeting and ended up at Cape Foulweather watching Submarine Races. 9 days later eloped to Lewistown Idaho and got married before either one of us could get cold feet and change our minds.

I just started reading the Oregon chapter. I read your post. I have a 76 f250 also but mine is a 300 6. Last Time I went through deq I set my timing to factory specs tuned the carb had perfect 18" steady vacuum. The idle was set to factory specs. The truck had all new plugs wires. Air filter distributor cap ,oil. It failed miserably. I went through 7 times retuning and trying. I passed after turning the idle mixture screw all the way in backing it out a little so it would kinda run. Turned the idle screw in so it would kinda idle . It barely ran bucking and snorting while it was being tested and it passed.I looked at the deq person and asked wtf more vulgar than that. He was dumb founded it passed. Just thought I would share my deaf night mare

Man... that sounds like an ugly ordeal. Absolutely ridiculous to make people go through that.
I plan on taking it through to get a baseline next week. This week will be oil, plugs, and a replacement carb. Hopefully I can get the tune good enough to get close.
I wonder if a couple of cheap cats from RockAuto would help things along...?
