Block hole

Could it be a index spot for a fixture mount for machining?

Homework !

I'm amazed at the questions posted without so much as year, engine displacement, and transmission information, let alone differential gearing. Wow.

So what else is new? This is a very common problem here on FTE

People ask questions without listing a single shred of evidence on what they're working on.

Must assume all the people responding are mind readers!

It's not only a problem on FTE Bill...It's an issue with consumers in general. Consumers allow their vehicles to drive them vs. the consumer taking control and driving the vehicle.

Example...We recently received a 911 call for a distressed woman calling that her child was locked in her vehicle and her remote failed to unlock the vehicle She had no clue that the key inserted into the door lock cylinder would unlock the door.

That is, without a doubt, where the knock sensor is screwed into the block. It's safe to leave it open if you're not running a knock sensor. No make, model, urine sample, or attitude from the peanut gallery necessary!

Guys take it easy. The title says 302 block question. You don't need the differential information to answer the question. If you don't like the question don't answer it. This is suppose to be a friendly informative forum. Don't get upset about someone making a mistake or just not knowing the more info they give the better the chance of an accurate answer. He may be a young guy that just doesn't know so please be as kind to him as you all have been to others in the past. If you are having a bad day don't post but enjoy the forum for what it is. I'll get off the soap box and please don't think I'm putting anyone down. Tiger fan I hope you learn from all of this too

Cabin fever is nothing. We got 5 and a half feet of snow in the last couple of nights and every body got weird. heh heh. That extra hole is probably what was stated above, but my first impression was it might be for a different type of intake manifold (or for a different year) bolt down hole.
