clutch hydralic line came loose while driving, tryingto figure out the issue
Hello everyone!
Today I am working on my 1993 ford F350, the Stay Puft Marshmallow Truck. about 500 miles ago, i had the engine and transmission out, and when i re-installed it, i put in a new clutch and a master cylinder/slave cylinder combo. it is an internal slave cylinder, I got the one piece pre-bled kit that came with the line and everything (Brute power/ Perfection clutch part # PF9017) and it worked wonderfully. i plugged it together, and i was up and going.
Fast forward to this morning. I was cruising along on my 10 mile jaunt to work, i was about 3 blocks from work, in town, going 30 mph, decided to downshift to slow myself down, and the pedal would not move an inch. i pulled the shifter into neutral, rolled to the stop sign, and a coworker tugged me to the work parking lot with a chain. At the end of the work day, i pushed the truck in, found out that the coupler from the hydraulic line to the slave cylinder had come loose, and must have some sort of check valve on it, because if is not connected, the pedal wont move. So i hooked it up, pumped it a few times, it came loose. I re-attached it a second time, gave it several tugs, and it seems like its secure, but perhaps i am overlooking something?? Has anyone else ran into an issue like this??
Also, from what i have found, gravity bleed is the preferred method to bleed out this system? is there any better ways, or is that it??

the line decided to unhook itself again tonight. this time, it would not re hook up, even as i layed under the truck in the road while it was raining. finally, after half an hour of trying, i gave up and pushed the truck back inside.
before i tug the entire transmission out and replace all the hydraulic parts again, does anyone have any ideas or suggestions??

the slave cylinder is internal, you can see the connector poking out of the side of the trans.
here is the kit that i got before. they said they would warranty it.
More Information for BRUTE POWER/PERFECTION CLUTCH PF9017

this system uses an "improved design" that uses a large clip to hold the line in place, similar to what is used on the fuel filters on these trucks, just made of metal and larger. its a great theory, but if it doesnt stay put, then its total crap, i spose.
i talked to the company tech line, they have not heard of this issue before, so lets just hope something was faulty in the manufacturing and that the new one will fix everything.

Dragging this thread up.
Almost a year has passed, I finally dropped the trans, put in a new slave cylinder, line, and master cylinder, and put in a new clutch for safe measure. Got it together last Saturday, drove it all week.
106 miles in, the line blows off the slave cylinder. I re-attached, and it blew off two more times in the time it took me to get home ( 8 blocks).
Anybody?? Anything??

so i take it that that clip in the rock auto picture is what holds it together. i would have to say its not seating all the way in or the clip isn't completely seating. there has to be something in how the fittings go together and it needs to seat all the way in. kinda weird its happening on your second one.
call the people that make it and see what they say about the fittings being seated together and how to know its in all the way.
