E4OD/4R100

Can a E4OD be used in our trucks? I have one I can get for pretty much nothing.

The E4OD lacks the Shaft Speed Sensors that work with the Super Duty PCM programming. Some year model E4ODs have some beefier components than a 4R100, but still is no better overall. Also, the E4OD uses an "on-off" TC lock up vs the Pulse Width Modulated application of the 4R100. PCM/Trans compatibility issues would be the major concern with making one work.
