Timing cover help please

I ordered a motorcraft timing cover RF-E7PE-6059-AA, which according to ford works for both a standard direction or reverse rotation water pump. Well I hooked up my water pump and before I could even start the truck a waterfall was running from the water pump. From what I have been finding via research is that the backing plate on my water pump is bronco specific and I would need to switch to the Ford Mustang water pump backing plate. I'm hoping this is a simple fix and that I don't have to remove and put a new timing cover on, that was a huge job and the second time I have done it in 6 months. The 1991 mustang water pump is he same aside from backing plate with round ports, the bronco has oval. Since the bronco has oval it's allowing coolant to free flow out of the extra bolt holes on the ford timing cover. Posted on Facebook and they all say that it's the wrong timing cover. But according to summit racing, this timing cover works with both standard and reverse rotation.
