Dechromed/de grandpa'd my 2011 F250

Bought this truck because it was a mint gasser which are impossible to find. Unfortunately it was clad in all things I hate about trucks....chrome rims bug guards rain shields chrome running boards.

Looks good. I too purchased a 2011 gasser that needed some changes. It had been 'plasti-chromed' by the dealer!

I'm old though, so I kept the steps...

Hey, a grandpa of 3 here, but I still like what you did to your F250. Looks sharp.

Never could figure out why its considered "grandpaish" to have some silver or chrome wheels, some chrome bumpers (which are more durable than painted) and a couple other chrome pieces on the truck. Sure some guys overdo it but most trucks don't come overdone from the factory. Maybe I just have too many mennonites in my area, this whole "blacked out' thing everyone seems to want, don't do a thing for me. Whatever floats the boat I guess.

I could not agree more. I have a 2015 F-350 SRW KR with the "Chrome Pkg". OMG! It is a single color platinum white with 20" chrome wheels, bumpers, mirrors and tow hooks. I have taken off all the KR badging, and plan to remove the FX4 stickers next. Black wheels disappear into the wheel wells, esp. on a white truck. To each is own, for sure. I am 57, though with kids 14 and 9, a ways from being a grandpa!

In 20 years, the first thing the yet unborn generation will do to that used truck is take off those "grandpa-ish" matte black wheels. Eww. How ancient they will say.

Like beads hanging in the door way, fuzzy dice, pet rocks, cabbage patch dolls, affliction t shirts, members only jackets, flames on the hood, curb guard feelers under the bumper, tennis ***** on CB radio antennas, rainbow colored Starsky & Hutch rally stripes... it will all soon pass. Including matte black, star shaped, spooky spoke wheels. It will be asked "What were they thinking?"

I was gonna say excellent job jterry, but......still pretty grampa to me!! You gotta step it up to get my approval. All my 3 kids are in there 20s so I could be a grampa, but, you got a ways to go before that one is de-grampaed. I appreciate your effort though! Check out my de-grampa build in "2009 f350 V10 build". I still have chrome cup holders in the interior and wont get a good nights sleep till those are fixed!

The thing I cant figure out is the guys with piercings, gages, studs, and tats all seem to think that a truck has to have all the chrome removed from it to look good.
