Don't worry that shimming will make your cores worthless - most rebuilders will only shim your cores, maybe replace a few o-rings and springs, and ship them back to you!

Rebuilt injectors are a scam - if you need more than a shim of the poppet get NEW OEM INJECTORS!
Thanks for the advice

OK, if you say so.

Do they machine poppet valve seats or replace the main body and/or poppet valve to get OEM clearance as needed?

Not trying to diss anyone, but the issue of poppet valve wear is well documented, and is rarely addressed by rebuilders in a manner that surpasses what you can do yourself for a few bucks and an afternoon without removing the injector.

Don't see how shims on the selenoid gap could cause any damage to the core. Mine are over 440,000 miles... and I expect when they start giving me problems again, I'll need new injectors anyway.

you can shim them but they could break internally making your cores worthless for a rebuild

Great!
But, be aware that this is a temporary fix - NEW (not rebuilt) injectors are in your (and my) future.
Nature of the beast!

When you say "temporary"
What does that mean?
10,000 miles? 50,000.. 100,000
