I'm with Troy on this one. You can sell your truck for plenty of cash compared to trading it, and then get a cheaper reliable vehicle. Losing money on your trade for the same payment but shorter isn't that good of a deal. There are plenty of cars, like your KIA, that you can find and will be good. Find a nice older Explorer. Can still tow the boat, are reasonable to buy, and can be cheaply maintained...

Good evening guys. Trying to do at least one small project every day around here. Tonight was clean of a shelving unit in the laundry room. Only 853 more projects to go...

Good evening everyone.

Appreciate the advice, guys. I've tried selling newer vehicles before on CL without any luck whatsoever. I remember listing my '11 Mustang GT for book value in '12 and waited for weeks without a phone call. KBB private party is $30K, and the dealer agreed to $28K on a trade today.

I told them I wanted to see how the kids fit in the back, so I took the Escape home today on a dealer plate. Haven't signed a thing yet, but we have a tentative deal. $17,500 certified used, which means I'd finance $20,500 with a powertrain warranty for another 62,000 miles. I'm gonna hop on Craigslist and see what I can see. Need decent fuel economy, 3,500 lb towing capacity, and at least 4-5 years of good use left in it.

Selling a Mustang on CL is way different then a pickup. Many more people looking for a pickup like yours. Much easier to sell! Financing that much..... why if you are trying to save money? Why not buy a cheaper vehicle? It only has to tow 3500lbs which is nothing and only has to last 4-5 years. Tons of cheaper vehicles on CL that will do that and you will actually save some decent money. Don't see you saving that much money with the trade your doing but maybe I am missing something......

Good morning fellas!

Wahoo, put Feb. in the past and let's get to camping! Seems like an eternity already.

Hate to beat it to death but I agree with the fellas too Tom. I would try and sell it on CL first. If the dealer is going to give you $28k on trade wonder how much they will sell it for? Probably close to what you would on CL. Come on man give it a whirl.
