Fuel Line - Sender Unit O-Rings

Fuel Line - Sender Unit O-Rings
Replaced my front fuel tank, and did not replace the O-rings on the sender unit connection to the fuel lines. So now one is leaking pretty good... presumably the return line.
Yeah, my bad.
I confirmed that the current leak is at one of the connections... fuel on finger when I rub the bottom of the fitting. And before someone asks, this wasn't the original leak that caused me to replace the tank. The original problem, finally diagnosed with the old tank on the ground, was that the top insulating pad between the crossmember and tank wore through, metal-to-metal contact wore and rusted a hole in the original tank. And that little hole was just the start... it was going to get bigger quickly.
So now I forget the exact set-up, and where the O-rings are... on the male / sender unit side, or inside the female / line side. And how much of a pain they are to get at with the tank in place.
Can anyone tell me which side of the connection they are on? If they're on the fitting side, am I likely to get the old rings off and the new ones with the tank in the truck... I figure I'll have to drop the skid plate and lower the tank as far as the mounting bolts will allow. Or do I really need the tank on the ground?
Thanks in advance for any help.
