Is that when you're checking the backup lamps?

Did you check the switch that turns them on?

If an automatic transmission, the switch is the one on the side of the transmission that also tells the computer what position the driver has placed the shift lever.

It goes by various names. Your auto parts store will probably (incorrectly) call it a "neutral safety" switch since that's the term left voer from teh 60s and 70s. Depending on when the documentation was done, Ford might call it a DTR switch, MLPS sensor, TRS, or something similar.

Looks like that switch is brand new and was replaced when the trany was rebuilt a year ago.

What else can cause this. i did check the fuses. I really need to get this fixed its hard to see when i back up. I have tinted windows.

Thanks fir the help.

Just because it looks new doesn't mean it's working. You only know it's working when you PROVE it's working.

Time to start actual troubleshooting.

Sir, you do tread after thread about a lot of non sense and just show near complete ignorance about everything.
Any circuit starts at a fused power source, goes through control switching to the circuit destination.
What would you not understand about that?
Look for the cause of an open circuit!
We can't hold your hand and give you a kiss without being accused of being Gay..
I know this is a snarky reply but you need to get the message.
Go do the work.
Good luck.

I do need some one to hold my hand. I do not have a clue what I am doing. If you don't know how to help me just say so, and if you don't like my threads then stay out of them.

One more thing, not everyone is as smart as you. This forum of to help the people that need the help. Trust me I need the help. My truck was severely neglected and is in ruff shape. I do need lots of help. Occasionally need some one to hold my hand.
