2014 F250 DEF Contamination

Just got the limp mode notification about contaminated def. Could this be a sensor? Taking it to the dealer tomorrow. Truck has 40k and I am the only one that adds def.
Hopefully it is a sensor or something easy. Def contamination isn't covered under warranty is it?

won't be covered under warranty.

They would most likely charge a bundle of money to drop and drain the tank.

You could do the same thing yourself.

If you have ESP and it is a sensor then it would be covered. If contaminated no.

The first solution for contaminated DEF is to pump out the old DEF and refill with fresh DEF. If this doesn't cure the problem, then you might need to replace the tank (probably what dealer will tell you has to be done initially).

$15 or so for a transfer pump from Harbor Freight or Wal Mart and a 2.5 gallon of DEF from Wal Mart is cheaper than a trip to dealer show it fix your problem.

Multi-Use Transfer Pump

So if I drain and refill, that may cure my my contaminated def light. Or will I have to clear check engine code? When I drain fluid will have to see if any contamination is evident. I am only going by what the truck vehicle report says

it should reset the code, but autozone and scan and reset it.

Can we manually regenerate trucks without a computer?

Regen has nothing to do with def....Regen occurs when dpf filter pressure is full...def is used in the scr (selective catalyst reductant) iirc

The only way to regen a 2013 or newer truck manually is via Ford IDS or a prgrammer/monitor such as Edge CTS/CTS2
