Has anyone taken apart a front break drum ? The drum and bearing race are two seperate pieces held togeather with flathead straight slot screws.i am affraid to mess with them unless i can get new screws

 

I rebuilt the rear in my 59 250 and got all the parts from the local auto parts store. The screws where the least of my problems though. I ended up having to torch the case to get it off after removing the screws and cracked the drum.. It is replaceable as well. This is as long as you are talking about the 3 screws on outside of the drum. I just hit them with penetrating lube and they came right out.

 

The last time I took mine apart friction is what held the drum in place, not screws.
You should just be able to tap the drum off w/ a mallet.

 

Use a deadblow hammer or a puller.

 

I bought the big flat tip screws on the face of the drum at Ace hardware.
