2001 7.3 into 1997 F-350

whats the problems swapping a 2001 7.3 into a 1997 7.3 hole ?

Injectors are different. Split shot versus single shot. This can be fixed with tuning.

Other problem is fuel. You'd need an efuel setup.

Turbo is also bigger. You need to either massage firewall or swap turbos over.

Later styles are also intercooled. You'd need to get an intercooler setup or go back to non-intercooled.

Someone else with more knowledge will chime in soon enough.

Just use the Super Duty long block and use all the accesories from your 97, and change your camshaft if you plan on keeping the mechanical fuel pump.

He would have to drill a hole for the plunger too wouldn't he?

Nope, the SD block has a freeze plug.

On the turbo I will disagree other than the drivers manifold is longer and in my truck it would not fit.
I have a much larger turbo and never touched my firewall lol

If you run this engine just get a SD pump and plumb it in and use the SD filter housing.
