1961 rear axle question

In my recent purchase of NOS parts I have an Econoline rear axle or half of one. It is in a box with part number C1UZ 4235 A.

Can anyone tell me if there is a market or demand for this part? And what might be a good starting price?

Thanks. I know very little about Econolines. I hang out on the 48 to 56 forum.

C1TZ-4234-B (replaced C1UZ-4235-A) .. 28.56" long Left Rear Axle Shaft = 1961/67 E100 (Econoline) with Ford WCC 2,300 lbs. capacity rear axle.

C1UZ 4235-B is the left axle shaft for the 7.25"-gear rear axle for the Econolines. I do not see C1UZ 4235-A listed.

It might be that C1UZ 4235-B was the replacement for C1UZ 4235-A. The parts books show only what the replacement is, not what was on originally. (I see that Bill verified this in his simultaneous reply.)

Is the shaft 28 35/64" long, 1 1/16" diameter, and has 24 splines? If so, then the shaft is practically worthless, since folks are dumping those axles in favor of the optional 9"-gear rear axle.

The 9" gear rear axle shaft would be 27 27/32" (27.84") long, 1 1/8" diameter, 28 splines. That one is worth some money, but most folks are looking for the entire axle assembly.

Thank-you, bill and Emil, for your replies.

Emil, I will measure the shaft tomorrow and get back to you here.

The shaft I have has 24 splines. Measured from the plate to the end of the shaft it is about 28 5/8" long, the shaft only is about 25 1/4" long. The diameter is of the shaft I measured it as just under 1".

So it looks like I have the worthless shaft.... What to do... I hate to scrap it.

Throw it up on eBay. Some folks are keeping the cheap axle, because it is all they have.

OK, thanks. It is worth the try. Any idea what I should ask for it?
