Another new 2017 F250 for me
I bought (I thought) a white 6.7L F250 about a month and a half ago and loved it. I got a call 2 days ago that said they think I have their truck and asked me to check the vin. Sure enough they sold me one vin, grey magnetic color, and handed me the keys to the white one, I wanted the white one, I never even looked at the grey while there.
This was going to be a pretty big hassle to get all the paperwork figured out since I didn't go through Ford for financing. Long story short, after 2000+ miles on the white one, I now have a grey magnetic truck with 13 miles on the clock.
I also found out that my salesman is now on a permenent vacation starting a week ago.
This truck is nice and I like the color, but it has the smaller center display where the white one had the larger. All other features are pretty much the same.
Oh ya, my white one had the low oil pressure notification, as well as the the fuel tank recall. I did not know since the "my ford" was setup with the wrong vin.
Moral of the story, check your vin on the truck for yourself before leaving the lot.

This has got me curious. If you wanted the white one with the larger productivity screen, why couldn't they have just re-written the sales contract with the VIN for the white one and call it a day?
Also, when you registered and insured the vehicle was it the under the VIN for the white one or the grey one?

All paperwork was for the grey truck with the assumption that vin was the white, insurance and all.
To be honest, the paperwork would have been a hassle (already made my first payment). But with the low oil pressure notifaction I just took it as a call it wasn't the truck for me.
The larger display doesn't really bother me all that much.
I have never heard about this happening before.

End of the day, the op could likely get whatever one he wanted. He would have cleaned house in court. The dealer clearly knew this and had to take a bullet and come clean....

Would probably still have been covered under the dealers.. he just took it for a 2000 mile, multi day test drive, since according to the state, it still belonged to the dealer. And they hadn't reported it stolen.

LOL. I've bought 4 new vehicles in my lifetime, 2 trucks for me and 2 cars for my ex-wife. 2 were Fords, one a hyundai, and one a toyota, and every single salesman went out and verified the VIN matched the paperwork before we did the deal. This kind of stuff SHOULDN'T be happening.
