Metal tube between heater hose and water pump... what is it??
Here's the scoop. 93 Ford F-150, V6, 4.9l. I had a leak coming from this tube. The piece broke off in my hand, apparently due from corrosion, as the end of the metal tube is very thin. Here is the description:
There are two hoses coming off the water pump that go to the heater on the firewall. The first hose is what i believe to be the "outlet" hose. Between this rubber hose and the water pump is a metal tube, upon which the "temp sensor" (?) is mounted. The leak is coming from the connection behind this hose. The tube is question is connected between the other heater hose (I am assuming the "inlet") and the water pump. This tube is not threaded apparently, and from what i can tell would simply push into the rubber hose, with the other end going into the water pump. It is "this" metal connector on the inlet side that i need to replace. I need to know what this piece is called, if it is readily available, etc... I went by a local ford dealer today and he suggested that this piece was called the "water inlet connector", but was available as a "water inlet conector kit". I dont need a kit, and dont know what comes with the kit. I just need this piece of metal tubing. Any clues? Any ideas? I'm at wit's end
Thanks in advance for the assistance.

Youre describing two different parts ... One heater hose connection is from the water pump , the metal pipe is pressed into the water pump & the only way to get it is to buy a new water pump . The other part is the small metal pipe that screws into the thermostat housing & it houses the Engine Coolant Temp Sensor . Which is the part you need ?

2) You might want to ask in the 1997 - 2003 F-150 section. This is for 1987 - 1996 trucks.
