Hey guys,

Ive got a 16 super cab 350 that I removed the rubber seals from the door bottoms. The thinking was to prevent rust as this is so common on these and I live way up i Northern Michigan. As you can imagine i get snow and dirt etc now on my door bottoms...not a big issue as I wash the truck all the time and just spray it off but I'm wondering if I'm doing more harm than good.

The noise isn't too bad and nothing gets into the cab...perhaps because i have the black plastic step bards but i just don't want to mess this truck up.

I wondering if I should put them back on or leave them off

I leave mine on because I think it does help keep some slop from coming up higher inside the doors. But, I ended up having to put some clear 3M paint protectant film on the rockers because the seals started scuffing the paint up due to debris from driving on gravel getting stuck to the rubber.

 

I have a 2006 super duty....the 2nd day of ownership back in 2006 I took off those rubber strips at the bottom of the doors! To me they just looked like they trapped dirt, salt, and water,.....every time I wash the truck I just wipe down the jambs and door bottoms.... I never had a problem ever! No signs of rust and they look brand new
