Parking brake cable

I broke the front parking brake cable on my 95 F150. When I replaced it, I connected it to the peddle 1st. I stretched all I thought I could, but it wouldn't reach middle/rear cables. I tried changing where cable mounts to body mount. I got what I deserved for trying to cheat and there's not enough tension to engage brake. How do I get the front cable to reach rear cables? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

two things come to mind ...
1) did you overcome ALL of the pedal spring load when pulling back on the front cable ?
2) are the rear cables moving freely in their housings ?
