I live in Michigan and I can tell you that the winter blend diesel up here seems to knock a couple MPG's off. I would go from 15.5 to 13MPG on my old 7.3 every fall. So far with 600 miles on the new truck the computer says I am at 15.7 average. I will see how this shakes out over the next couple thousand miles on the truck and more data in my gas buddy app. I am wondering how close the computer will be to my manual calculation.

Hmmmm I figure with saving 350lbs would make a little difference in MPG but maybe it has to feed the engine more fuel for the higher tq numbers.

I think the 350lbs. is most likely offset by the extra height. These trucks certainly aren't aerodynamic.

Yea that's very true. They are more brick shape then ever before. But I still love the truck.

MPG's are always rosy until the "Cleaning exhaust filter" happens. That's where it takes a dive.

i still cant get used to the stupid regens, i was spoiled with my 12' dodge never having a single regen..,Damn 15 min process knocks 40-50 miles off my DTE and 1 mpg hit usually is the only way i can tell its happening, unless im stopped i can hear it and smell it. Talk about a waste of resources

Yup, the aftermarket needs to come out with a delete kit quick, fast, and in a hurry.

It's imagined, this has been a myth for a long time. 100% of rated power is available from the moment it leaves the factory.

No doubt, but I frequently reset my average fuel economy for a trip, and can go the whole trip with no regens, but still not achieve what M/T claims they got.

I agree there is no magic mileage figure where the computer unleashes more power, but it certainly is no secret that a brand-new vehicle will run slower 0-60 and 1/4 mile runs then one with several thousand miles on it. Car & Driver has been reporting this for years. Therefore, as the engine loosens up, it must produce a little bit more power.

Do you have the 18" or 20" wheels?

I don't think it is a unicorn..that speed is the ideal speed for mpg...maybe even a little slower.

Its the speeds. 55-60mph would get you killed around here where highway speed limit is 75 (85 in some places).
