Rear Bumper Brackets for Contour Bumper

Seems the rear bumper brackets for the contour bumper are a real joy to find these days. Junk yards around here seem to only have the step bumper brackets. I saw on another thread that a gentleman by the name of Dean Bitner has fabricated some, but his public messages don't seem to have been answered and I can't PM him yet.

If not through Dean, has anyone had any luck getting them elsewhere? They seem like a hot commodity and I could be persuaded to have some fabricated here in eastern washington if there was enough demand.

Try Blue Oval Truck Parts or.... ..(gulp!) LMC Truck.

Previously checked LMC, DC, and Macs to no avail. Just checked blue oval parts (new one for me) and they also seem to be missing the dentside-specific brackets (have them for the bumpsides).

Do you know if the bumpside rear brackets are the same or would work on the dentside? They look very similar. Most previous threads discussing these brackets lead me to think the dentside brackets are unique.

I looked for a long time for the contour bumper brackets. I never was able to locate a set. LMC sells the bumpers but no brackets. I finally broke down and bought a step bumper and brackets. Not what I wanted but Mr. Policeman said I had to have some kind of bumper.

Good to doo: Do you have bumpside or dentside brackets? Either way would like to see pictures when you get around to it, as the picture of the bumpside bracket on BOTP looks like it was taken with a mid-90's flip phone.

BigSexy78: I'm in the same boat, with the added twist that I actually bought the contour bumper along with a bunch of other stuff from Macs during their cyber monday sale. Figured the brackets would be easy to come by elsewhere...

'Could use 78/79 Bronco brackets but both the inner and outer brackets need to be modified (extended) because Broncos have a shorter overhang.

I don't think Dean ever started producing the brackets in any quantity. I was in contact with him for awhile but he just kind of disappeared. Ended up finding a couple original used sets. They're still out there.

I have Deans ph # and will give him a call and direct him to this thread. He stopped by my house a while back and bought the last set I had acquired. The hard part to make is the thick twisted top support part on each end.

Bronco's use different bumper brackets than F100/350's. Bronco's have a stone shield between the body and bumper that the pickups don't have.

Got my hands on a set of 78 bronco bumper brackets the other day, so may look to extend those as others have when I get a welder.

I stumbled upon a retailer that claims to have rear brackets for contour bumpers. They have them listed as fitting 64 - 79 Ford trucks. Seems a bit odd given the bumpside and dentside rear brackets are not supposed to be the same, so Im a bit skeptical to drop $130. Anyone purchased or used the below brackets or have any thoughts as to whether they should work?

I saw those when I was looking for them a few months ago. I did not think they would work because they said they were for frame rail spacing of 34". My frame rails are 36".

1973/77 F250 4WD (High Boys) and 1973/79 F350 Regular Cabs on the 140" wheelbase have 33 1/2" width between the inner rear frame rails, used the 1964/72 bumpers, but the brackets are 1973/79.

See post #11 for the bumper and bumper bracket applications.
