20" wheels for 1996 E350
If I am not going to use my van to load or tow to its maximum capacity can I get away with 18" or 20" wheels and lighter duty tires?
I don't think there is a problem in getting wheels with the require bolt pattern in the 18 or 20 x 8 size. The only possible obstacle is the tires. I have not found 20" tires with the required load rating. Am I going to have safety issues with a lower load rated tires on my rig?
Reasons for wanting to go with the 18 or 20s is the lower side wall profiles available which will help handling. And they will clear larger brake rotors, I am considering a brake upgrade.
On my other vans 1/2 and 3/4 ton I used BF Goodrich T/A radials without any problems. I am not saying that is the tire I want to use now.
Thanks in advance for your advice.

2. A lower rates tire will be ok as long as it's rated enough to carry the weight of the van. Remember the front of the van weighs more than the rear.
3. Lower profile tires is a crazy(and expensive) way to make an E van handle better. Unless you have exhausted all other options, AND if you are into high speed cornering.
4. I think a van with big wheels and low profile tires would (could) look cool. If you're doing this for the sake of appearance- just say it.
