I never ran the Excursion this low before. The low fuel light illuminated when gauge read just below 1/4 tank. I know the trucks will be closer to empty before they come on. I just want to know if this is typical on the Excursions.

 

That's about when it comes on for me.

From my experience I've ran it over 100km empty after the light came on so it might be considered a bit early

BUT if you're towing heavy and the light comes on it would give you 50-60 km to get to a gas station
