What Gear Oil and Additive for Sterling Limited Slip Rear

Need to change the gear oil in the rear end of my 95 f250 powerstroke with the Sterling 10.25. Axle code is C5 limited slip with 4.10s.

Should I use 80-90w or like a 90-140w and what additives or friction modifiers do I need to get? And then what's the capacity and ratio I need to add?

Thanks

I did this recently and used a synthetic that met Fords Specifications.

Cool thanks man. Amazon has a good price so I'll just grab 4 and 8 oz of the friction modifier. Can't beat prime with free 2 day shipping

With pretty much any synthetic gear oil, you're supposed to run the fluid by itself and add friction modifier only if you get chatter.

Even with a limited slip axle? I've always thought LS always gets the additive. This is my first truck that's had it out of about 6

Correct. The additive is specifically for LS differentials, however, all mainstream synthetic brands have modifiers already...so you don't want to go crazy with friction modifiers if they aren't needed. Many bottles, in fact, instruct you not to add modifier unless you get chatter.

So if I get 4 qts of the motorcraft stuff in the link above I don't need to use the modifier?
