The locking hubs for the 2010 and 2011 F250/350 have a different part # but look to me to be exactly the same. Does anyone know what the difference is?

maybe what you're looking at is a manual vs auto hub

 

AC3Z-3B396-A is auto, and AC3Z-3B396-B is manual up to 2010.


Change the first "A" to a "B" and it becomes a 2011 and up.

 

IIRC the 2011+ trucks use a constant vacuum for locking vs pulse so the lockouts are different for the autos.

 

what do you think the consequence of using a 2010 hub in a 2011 truck would be.


I asked because I find that the dealer gave me, and I have been running a 2010 hub in my 2011 for about 3000K and now have a bad sound from the hub. I have not had a chance to pull it as it's been -28 here.
