Anyone have issue with brake lights staying on?

Its getting to be annoying. When I get out of my truck unless I pull the brake back towards me with my foot the brake lights stay on. What can I do to fix this?

More than likely the problem is the brake light switch, or, more precisely, the way Ford mounted it.
They used a sort of "sleeve" to retain the switch and it's not uncommon for the adjustment to slip, allowing the brake lights to stay on.
Replacement switches use two jam nuts to prevent this.
Here's some pictures of the sleeve and the replacement version with lock nuts.

Don't some of these trucks have the other style of Ford brake light switch? Like one in many cars:

Never cared for this particular design, as the movement of the brake pedal moves the whole switch, along with its wires. But if you have this style switch, the problem might just be worn wires. With this style switch, the insulation could've worn off of the wires, allowing them to complete the circuit when they touch.

Or... and I think most likely you need to replace your master cylinder or at least check fluid levels and bleed the brakes. The reason I say that is because you say you need to pull the brake pedal with your foot meaning the fluid is not forcing the piston back with spring assist.

That switch is the one Ford used on trucks with factory cruise control.

I fought that for awhile. The problem is that when you pull the pedal up, it
pushes the switch back. Then when you use the brake pedal and it comes
back up on its own, it doesn't come up far enough to hit the switch. Push
the pedal down and let it come up on its own, then adjust the switch down
until it is made and lights go out. My brake pedal never did come all the way up
to the stop and never has been a problem.

I adjusted the position of my switch and drilled a small hole in my brake pedal lever and hung a light spring between it and the bottom edge of my dash.

X2 on ck brake system, and insp brake light switch position. If your pedal does not come back up you have some work ahead of you?

Might ck if you are suppose to have a spring up under there?

See where is says Bracket (clutch and brake pedal assist spring)? I can not find the spring though.

Hang in there, I am sure the answer will be here soon.
