Unit bearings.... which do you prefer?

Looks like I'll be replacing my hub unit bearings on my 2002 Ex shortly. Seems to me the two worthy bearing assemblies are SKF or Timken. I'm leaning towards SKF, coarse thread.

What's your experiences? any difference other than price?

any helpful notes appreaciated.... seals, o ring stuff, type of grease etc.

Don't go cheap. Trust me, I've replaced mine going on four times, all of the non-Timken/OEM's failed prematurely. Three almost totaled the rig when they seized on the freeway with hardly any forewarning.

Spend the money right, spend it once. Get the little zerk doodad that goes in the ABS sensor hole and maintain them, and be worry free.

Be sure you use the right grease as well. Chassis lube won't cut it, get some good high temp stuff meant for bearings.

Timken (or you'll be wishing you had them).

Used Timken on my driver's side about 30k ago. Have another on the way for the passenger side to install Monday.

This is the unit you would need with course lug studs.

It's been 6 or 7 years since I replaced mine, but I could have sworn that they were fine threads. Now I'm going to have to go pull a lug nut off and verify the threads...LOL
