How to tell which trucks have 6.2's?

Here comes a stupid question so prepare yourself.

Ive had my heart set on getting a 5.0 truck at some point in the near future, but am by no means opposed to picking up a 6.2 truck if it crosses my path for the right price!
I do a majority of my browsing online, with dealerships that really dont know what theyre talking about. So my question to you guys is, how do you know (aside from looking under the hood) if the truck has a 6.2? Are there certain models that ONLY have the 6.2? I just saw a 2011 Harley edition with one, and now its making me wonder if every other 2011 Harley has one??
Thanks guys

Not a stupid questions at all! All 2011 and 2012 Harley's had the 6.2 exclusively. They phased the HD out for 2013.

The 6.2 is also the exclusive engine in the 2011 Limited trim. There was no limited for 2012 and in 2013, it went to the EB.

The 6.2L was available in multiple trims elsewhere with other engines as well.

Someone can correct me, but I believe if you see one browsing online that says "V8" in description BUT lacks a "Flex Fuel" badge in the lower right of the tailgate, either someone removed the badge it or it is a 6.2L. The 6.2 is not a flex fuel engine and didn't get the badge. I believe that the 5.0 was always a flex fuel engine thus received the tail gate badge. I'd wait for comment on that before saying for sure.

Hope this helps! The 6.2L is a rare engine (at least in my area) but a beast! Couple guys with that engine on the forum here.

Best of luck with the search!

Ah perfect! I was wondering if there was any correlation between the flex fuel tags and the 5.0's, and that makes perfect sense to me.
Now the better question to ask myself... Do I need the extra displacement, or do I just WANT the extra displacement

Happy to help! Nothing wrong with wanting the extra displacement

Correction: the 6.2 in the superduty was a flexfuel certified engine. Ford did not carry the certification over to the f-150 line up. this makes since as it is one of the volume sellers on the SD lineup and to have the fuel flexibility is a plus.

What's been said is basically it.

Late 2010-2014 Raptor had it standard (only engine option)
2011 Limited had the 6.2 standard (only engine option)
2011-2012 Harley had the 6.2 standard (only engine option)
2011-2014 Lariat had the option of the 6.2
2011-2014 Platinum had the option of the 6.2
2013-2014 XLT had the option of the 6.2

They are rare in the trucks not standard with them.

Only way to spot one is NO badging meaning no flex fuel on the tailgate.

They are decently common around me, not sure if more dealers here ordered it for stock or what.

I absolutely love mine! The power, the sound and one of the extra positives for me is the old school hydraulic power steering system.

Iirc, the 6.2 in lariat and lower trim should also have the max tow mirrors.

So if you see the big dumbo mirrors, and no ecoboost badge on the door, you should have found an 6.2.

I have one and it's my favorite thing about my truck. My truck is a platinum but also a max tow so no badging and dumbo mirrors. I didn't realize the 2013 lariats and XLTs had to have max tow for the 6.2L. The 2012 platinums did not.

They are just stickers and can be removed leaving you with a white, black or silver truck depending on the model year.

There wont be any paint fade or shadowing from where the sticker was?

I've pulled decals off 10+ year old trucks, a little buff and wax you'd never know it was there.

It was also an option for the 13 and 14 fx4's. Max tow or non max tow. I have a 14 non max. A rock solid but thirsty monster.

5.0s were not availible with Max tow. The 6.2 was availible with Max tow. but not all 6.2 trucks will have max tow. mine is a 2013 lariet with with the 6.2 and max tow. I bought it for that reason, 6.2, and max tow. and the 6.2 is rare in my area. every dealer that has seem my truck tell me that they havent seen one like mine.
