Ok I got to the shop today and tried to get a pic of cert. The bay my truck is in is super tight so I could get in to try to read the label and it's so faded the picture is too hard to read.

The shop owner had me working on a few of his other projects ( that's how I'm paying rent for my space) so I didn't get a chance to pull my truck forward and get better look.

I am going back in the morning and I have a few things to do at the shop but after that I should have the day with my truck (and Wifey wants to come help YAY!)
I dropped of the head and will know more on Monday but they already saw some of the valves need new seats.

Thanks Wagonboy for the other threads. Awesome information some of it was over my head but it was good stuff.

So I also read somewhere that my crank shouldn't be laid down 😲 Oh no ! I had laid it on cardboard in the bed of my truck. It was like that for about 2 weeks. Am I hosed? How would I know?

Ok I tried to post the picture but it didn't work. I think I need to reread how to post. Maybe I shouldn't have tried to use my phone to post from. Newbie mistake I'll get better.

You are ok. I was at a shop about a year ago when I was redoing a engine, and that guy had a room full of crankshafts that were laying all over the place, all over each other. I have heard that too, that they should be stored on end, but I don't know where it came from.

Are you going to get the crank looked at? The one I took had some scratches in it, I thought it needed to be turned. All it needed was polishing, and he did that and chamferred the oil holes. It looked great when he was done.

I don't remember what you're trying to figure out in this thread, but Gary's site works again and you can go decode your cert label here; the blue boxes are clickable:

Had 3 basic questions.
1 Offenhauser intake which one works better for a slightly upgraded engine? Dual port or type C.
2 Benefits of an RV cam.
Thanks Wagonboy the you sent me to answered that for me.
3 Wher to get quality master rebuild kit.
I got this one covered by the South West Machine shop.
