Fuel filter change,won't start

Replaced both fuel filters same as usual. Cranked right up and I let her run while I put up the tools and look for leaks. Notice it started running rough, so I jumped in and started to back out of carport and it went dead. Ran battery down and it won't hit a lick.
Replacement (racor) filter same as last few changes.
Running just fine before change so it has to be something simple, but what?

Check the orings. If they're not sealing properly you could be sucking air into the fuel system

Esp. on the lower filter. Did you lube the O rings? Did you snap the filter into the cap prior to install?

One more thing to add, do not run your batteries down. It's really hard on the FICM.

Yes and Yes.
Batt down to 70% recharging.
Over it tonight, hit it first thing in the AM. Pull the lower and......
Just love the smell of diesel in the arm pit.
Thanks, I'll keep you posted.

FYI, I recently read a post on one of these forums that the guy was having the exact same problem as you. The fix ended up being the HFCM cap was not on all the way. Good luck

OP, check your engine filter. If you did not snap it to the top before you installed it, there is a good chance it is twisted or crushed. In either case, it will not open the shutoff valve in the filter stem and no fuel goes to the motor. Been there, done that.

Just happened to me. First time since I've owned the thing. I cycled the fuel pump about 10 times (key on, wait 10 seconds, repeat). Mine was blowing bubbles in the secondary fuel bowl which was a giant hint that the system was air bound.

Got back on her this PM. Took it all out and all looked normal. All back in and crank crank. Finally she hit, runs like a champ. Don't think I fixed anything. Maybe a full moon problem.
Thanks to all for your comments, was appreciated. I did not want to call the tow truck and face a tech with such a self made problem.
