New Tires What Size?
I have a 2012 F250 Super Duty that came with 17in wheels, I need new tires, I want to go to a taller tire basicly for looks. I do tow a toy hauler at about 8k filled. Thinking about changing wheels to maybe a stock chrome 20in. If I want to go to a taller tire should I go to the bigger wheel? Thinking of a 285 or a 295 tire.

If finding wheels are in the cards, look for some take off 18's, then wrap them with 295/70/18's. Perfect size, plus has the big payload of 4080lbs per tire.
If you stay with 17's, Some tires are offered in 285/75/17, and most brands offer the 295/70/17. Cooper AT3 has a 305/70/17 which would be one of the largest for that stock wheel. Besides having fewer sizes in the 17, these tires all carry the 3195 load rating, so no where near what you can get in an 18.

Totally agree with RainDesert. Used 18" take offs can easily be had for a very reasonable price. In my opinion they are better because you will have more sidewall than a 20" wheel so they will be more forgiving to bumpy roads and ride better. Plus I just think more sidewall looks better than the low-profile tires.

The height difference between a 205/75/14 and 225/75/15 is approx 2.5 inches. For those of you dont know how to figure out height. On a 225/75/15, the width is 225MM ÷ 25.4MM per inch which is 8.85 inches wide, x 75% for the sidewall aspect ratio which is 6.63 inches, x 2 for both sides of the tire = 13.26 inches plus 15 inches for the wheel gives a height of 28.26 inches... Just trying to help out.
