I have a '50 F3. It's dark blue. How do I tell which blue and what the actual color name is?

Unless it is the Original color, you may never know. Check the stampings on your firewall for the paint code and build date.

 

Look behind the gas tank .

 

Under door weatherstrip and under hood. If you feel energetic pop some chrome trim.

 

If the truck is dark blue, and it's the original color, the color is Sheridan Blue, Ford code M-14285. Matching that code might require going to a paint store with old obsolete code records. Modern paint formulations aren't gonna match the old codes. Like the guys said, you may need to find a hidden area where the sun didn't fade the paint color. Stu

 

I was gonna say, if its dark blue, its Sheridan Blue.

Here is the paint chart but the colors didn't scan very well. It looks like you have 3 potential colors but in 1950 I think Sheridan Blue was the dark blue.
