1999 V10 5 Speed Clutch Help, Please!
Hello,
This is my introduction and ask for help. I recently purchased a 1999 F250 V10 crew, long bed, 4 x 4, 5-speed (S5-47M). It's really nice truck, what I wanted and the plan is to use it to tow a horse trailer (older daughter). I knew getting into a used vehicle there would be a few things to repair and I have (fuel Pump, front bearings, etc.). This said, I am a mature mechanic and have restored and own multiple 60's, 70's Mustangs as well as many modern BMW's and can repair them to a factory software level. All this said, I'm hoping someone out there can give me wisdom of what I don't know.
Here's my deal: Upon buying the truck there were records from a local shop that replaced a list of things. In this list was the motor with a rebuilt about 48K ago due to another mechanic changing the oil and not refilling with drive off = seized (motor installed by different mechanic). Current motor runs like a champ after a PVC valve change (buzz). Also, it was said that the clutch was changed 6K ago. My issue is I drove it to work one day and could not get it in gear without forcing it, or turning it off. I got it home and searched around and a change to the master and the slave for the clutch appeared to be in order. So, I changed out the original with a Valeo (pre-bleed) which had the same brand markings as the 1999 date coded original. Also, I changed the fluid in the trans synthetic as recommended.
Initially the truck drove and shifted like new. Then, park at work after a swing in turn, won't go in gear.
No leaks, pedal assembly appears to be in good order.
Any suggestions or help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Jason
