Looks good! My only concern when I decided to cut mine was that I wanted to shorten it but as a measure of safety, still wanted it to be the highest point of my truck, a 'feeler' if you will. So I know If I enter an underground and that antenna clears I know my lights, roof and backrack will clear. That would be my only concern with having the antenna shorter than your lights.

 

I hear ya. But I park in my garage every night and I have about 1/2" of clearance. It's tight, so anything over this would still rub my home garage. I'm very careful about height though, used to drive bigger moving trucks and towing large boats and stuff around, so I'm always looking up.
