How do I by-pass the neutral safety switch 4r100

I have the 4r100 transmission how do I bypass the safety switch?

Also what are your thoughts on starting the engine with the transmission out? I know to bolt the spacer plate to the engine.

Have someone hold the ignition switch in the start position while you get underneath the truck and operate the neutral switch until the truck cranks.

Just align the two marks on the switch. That will put the switch in neutral and it will crank.

Be careful. This sounds dangerous. A man was killed here in the Walmart parking lot when he crawled under his truck to switch into gear and ran himself over. If the truck is in gear when it cranks, it could be the start of a disaster.

Yep, but wouldn't you need help to do that?
Who was cranking the engine? Really long arms? A hole in the floor?

I wasn't there, so I don't know. Maybe a remote starter button, but that's just a guess. I read the story in the local paper. I do remember it said he was by himself. But I would not try this even if there was somebody in the truck. I wouldn't trust my life that he was holding the brake tight or some other slip up. They call it a safety switch for a reason.

That's a good warning, but I don't think it will be in gear with the transmission out of the truck.
