I put an early/mid 90's Sterling 10.25 rear axle in my '78 4x4 F150 wrecker/plow-truck/yard-truck. (yeah truck serves many purposes) It's been a great axle, other than the axle shaft retaining bolts on the passenger side keep loosening, and walking out of the hub. No problems with the bolts on other side hub/axle shaft. I properly torque them, but over time, they just eventually just loosen up. I could lock-tight them, but that still won't explain why it's happening.
In another thread, while learnin bout the Sterlin today, I saw someone mention that the manual recommends thread locker on those bolts. I have not verified as the manual I have is a real book, the likes of which I havent opened in a long time. Well, months at least.
