3rd gen lift kits?

Is there anyone out there aware of any lift kits for an 02-05 explorer (not a sport or sport track). Are there options other than custom fab and strut spacers. Looking to lift about 3".

As far as I know, other than a body lift the spacers are the only option.

Here is one top of the line set: https://traxda.com/ford-lift-and-lev...it-102020.html

Another cheaper option: http://www.ebay.com/itm/2002-2005-Explorer-2WD-4WD-Front-3-Rear-2-Steel-Lift-Kit-/172315621846?_trksid=p2141725.m3641.l6368

So the next question if no one on here has lifted their truck with something other than strut spacers is... How do these trucks handle the strut spacers? Are there any issues with handling, tire ware ect.

With all the negative press in the past about Explorer rollovers, you sure you really really want to do this? It also speaks volumes that no aftermarket company offers a suspension lift kit.

Yes I am sure this is something I want to do. It is an SUV not a race car, and will be driven as an SUV not a race car. And from what I understand the rollover issue was due to faulty tires? These explorers (02+) have a wider stance then the previous generation. Now has anyone put the strut spacers or body lift on their explorer?

If you can't find an answer here try 4x4central forums. They have quite a few guys that have modified explorers. If it is the independent rear suspension I believe the axle shaft goes through the frame limiting lift in the rear.

This forum is a bit more active with respect to mods for Explorers. Since it is all Explorer all the time that is to be expected methinks. I looked a bit in the modified section and lifting is just not there. Now I didn't do a study but it seems there is a basic mechanical limitation on lift due to design.

As for the product you listed, you'll have to search that one out.

Good luck.

The 3rd generation Explorers are not known for rolling over. That was the 1st generation, and they were known for rolling over because of defective tires blowing out and ignorant drivers slamming on the brakes and jerking the steering wheel when it happened. There's nothing wrong with the design of the Explorer that makes more prone to rollover than any other SUV.

Anyway, it "speaks volumes" that lift kits are WIDELY available for the 1st generation Explorers. The reason they're not widely available for the 3rd generations is that they're difficult to lift due to their suspension design, and there's not much of a market for them (few people want to lift a 3rd gen).

Well thanks everyone for the pointers, found some good onfo on the Explorer form about lifting and them some! I now hope to post some builds sheets in the future. Yeah and I will definitely be bypassing the 4x4 auto.
