I ordered my truck with the 5th Wheel/Gooseneck Hitch Prep Package and the 5th Wheel Hitch Kit - 18K. I have never towed a Gooseneck but I am planning on in with this truck. I have been towing 5th wheels for 8 years.

Does the prep kit come with the ball or do I have to get one aftermarket? Is there anything else I will need to tow Gooseneck?

 

The ball is separate. You can buy it from Ford but it's much cheaper to buy aftermarket. IE:

Mine came with ball in cardboard box under back seat....

 

If yours came with the ball, you or your dealer ordered the optional GN ball kit.

It's pretty much a copy of the Reese Elite setup you can get from Ford. All of Ford's GN and 5th items are rebranded Reese Elite.

 

Can the ball be stored upside down in the mount like I have seen others?

 

The kit I got today has the 2 ***** and safety chain hooks to both front and back

No, that's a B&W feature. But it's very easy to remove.

 

When I went to that link it says it does not fit the 2017 truck (I have a 2017 F350 selected in Amazon as my vehicle.) But it looks exactly the same as the one I fondled at the dealer, just the stainless ball/shaft part. The factory version comes in a heavy nylon bag and is much smaller than the plastic box that Reese includes. That big box is the main reason I'm not getting the MUCH cheaper version. That, and the fact that I already ordered it with my truck....

On second thought, since I'm paying invoice AND I have a fleet discount, it's only a few bucks more to get the smaller package. Score...

 

NEVER trust Amazon's fitment chart or description on what years it will fit...LOL. It's about the least accurate thing on the net. The ball is the same no matter the year....

 

nope, I got the same kit and I have a SRW. I ended up getting 2 *****, but Ford screwed up and gave me two 3" *****. One is supposed to be 2 5/16.
But I ordered a 5th wheel hitch from Ford and it also came with a GN ball kit, so I got a 2 5/16 and rails with that Kit.
i like the pucks that came with the truck better tgat the rail setup, cool idea.

 

Mine is a SRW that I ordered with the 5th wheel hitch also. Hopefully I will get the Gooseneck kit also.

 

The GN ball doesn't come with the prep or with the 5th hitch. The only way to get it is to order it with the truck, buy it from the dealer, or order it aftermarket.

 

Did your kit come in the back seat of the truck.
mine was shipped in a box to the dealer he got it yesterday it has my vin on the box my truck was built dec 22nd i thought it would be with the truck eta on truck is 1/16
