I have a 2012 gas F250 and I'm looking to purchase a living quarters horse trailer with a GVWR of 15970#. Will my truck pull it?
I would say yes your truck will "pull" it; but when one looks at the configuration of most stock/horse trailers, the axles are mounted way toward the rear of the trailer making their pin weight VERY heavy and with living quarters up front it will probably be even heavier yet. With all that being said, you MAY be way over what the tires are rated for on the tow vehicle. When I think about it, mst of the LQ trailers I see on the road are being pulled by 450/4500 class tow rigs, and quite a few are being pulled by class 6/7 Freightliner, Volvos, etc!
Good luck in your quest!
And while the gasser will pull the trailer, it will not keep up with the diesel rigs!
X2 on what Don said, plus keep in mind that stopping is the most important part ! If approaching 16klbs of trailer, I'm wanting a DRW setup for stability and brake power.
It depends on the weight of the trailer configured to how you're going to pull it. There isn't enough information to give you an informed opinion, but my guess is that is too much trailer for your truck.
