Here's the list of towing mods I've done to my 02 2wd V10 Ex. I tow a 37' 10,000# Coachmen Freedom Express travel trailer. I'm running stock size tires and currently tow in overdrive with no issues. I have a reese dual cam hitch. It does ok, but I wish I would have gotten the Pro-Pride.

6.0L Transmission cooler (well worth it, towing this summer in 98 degree heat in Florida, transmission never got over 185)
Hellwig Rear Sway Bar
RAS Rear Suspension (did the Hellwig and RAS at the same time, really settled down the truck a lot while towing)
4.56 gears with factory later model finned diff cover (did much better towing my trailer but still downshifted more than I liked)
5 Star Tuning Combo SCT X4 tuner/Intake/Y-Pipe (drastic improvement, now holds overdrive with no issues)

All in all the truck tows like a dream now, plenty of power and tows in overdrive without too much downshifting. Only mods I would do now for towing would be a Pro-Pride hitch.

Looking good. Do you have any documentation on the electrical connections for the mirror? What parts were used for the wiring?

Yours are the first '17 mirrors I've seen mounted to an older truck, they look great! Nice work. Are they OEM or aftermarket? Tell us more!

Did I miss what you location is? You can add that info to your "User CP" to have the location show on each post in the upper right.

I got them on eBay for 230 shipped. They have the same plug as the previous years Mirrors. I still need to get the adapter plug for my 2000 Ex.

Locker and gears are going in today.

Need to order some new shocks. What do you guys recommend.
Research I have done say Bilstein 5100's or rancho 9000 shocks.

5100's are too long for the rear, they are for 3-5" of lift, at least for 4x4. You can run the 4600s or 9000's. I run Bilsteins in front and 9000's in the rear. I tried Ranchos in the front and did not like them. They are not good on stretches of broken pavement, they were good on single events. And the bilsteins were too stiff at low speed for my tastes. Hope that helps.

Incidently the 9000's are adjustable but the adjusters will freeze up at some time. Mine did and they warranted them no problem. I took the new ones, removed the adjusters and pack the bore with moly paste (like you use on fasteners). I'll check them next dry day and see if they survived the winter so far.

I just talked to the shop putting in the gears and they said everything setup perfect with correct backlash and pattern but there is a little bit of gear howl around 40-50 MPH.

Is this common with the excursion and 10.5 rear end?
Is it something that will break in and go away?

Howl is more common in aftermarket gears in my experience. Is your third row seat still in? I noticed more noise in general with the 3rd row out and 2nd row folded down. The howl will not go away either.

I had Yukon gears installed in mine and they do howl slightly. You'll quit hearing it soon.
