05-07 Headlight Conversion on 2000 Excursion

Turbo and I did some wrenching/cutting in his shop today. I'm still blowing header panel plastic out of my nose =)

Got 'er all done in about 4 hours taking our time and freezing my fingers/toes off in 28F temperatures. Never done it before so the first light took a while, but we were much quicker with the second light. Used the Riff Raff walkthrough, which was very helpful.

Turbo said it best, "It looks 7 years newer!" I like it a lot, very happy with how it turned out.

The connector that came with the assembly seemed too deep and didn't quite fit the stock connector, so I just pulled the bulb from the new assembly and used the old connectors.

Looks great. Amazing how much better it looks by getting rid of the old cataracts.

Very nice, which bulbs for the Headlights did you go with?

just the 9008 main bulb and amber turn signal it came with. Left the old running lights in also. Haven't done major night driving yet and they are shooting at the ground pretty bad because I didn't have time to adjust them yet, but they're still better than those old pieces of crap.

25 feet and a wall is all you need. Then just set the cutoff to the
correct hight and you ready to go and see what night really looks like.

I used some Sylvania silver Stars and very happy with them. I bet they are a night and day difference, when I swapped mine out it was amazing the visibility I gained.

Good job! Thanks for taking the time to post the pictures.

Where did you get the lights? Aftermarket or OEM?

So I just put 2005 headlights on my 2001 Excursion and the turn signal lamp sockets are different but the factory 2001s wont work either when you lock it in its facing the headlight and you wont be able to fit the plug in. But the factory 2005 ones point in the right direction. How did you resolve that issue?

I did this on my 2003 F350 and just went to napa and got some little pigtails with bulb holder and spiced them in.

There's a $10 pigtail kit you need to convert HB5 to HB13 - other than that, I didn't have to modify or swap anything else out.
This is the one I bought in 2016:
