I use Farm Bureau. I'm not sure if they are national or just in Tennessee. I've had them since I was 16. Your rates get better after you've had them for a little while. I have full coverage on my '16 f250, '16 escape, and an '06 30' Bermuda travel trailer. I pay 149.?? Per month, and it just went up @20 because I had an at fault fender bender and my wife got a ticket for 62 in a 45. This was my first at fault accident in 16 years and my wife's first moving violation. My house is also with them for 88.?? Per month. If farm bureau isn't available in your area, try Erie insurance. I have a friend that says their rates and coverage are great.

It's worth calling them back and asking to speak with their customer retention department. Explain your case. If they are not prepared to adjust your "new premium", then you have a choice ... stay or shop around.

I'd shop around first to fully understand how another insurer would underwrite my situation and treat me. Worth a try.

Thank you all for the advice, I guess my only real option is to shop around and hope to find a better rate. Geico SUCKS and it seems I'm not the only one here who thinks that.

BTW, I did call Geico to try and dispute but they said that there was nothing that can be done due to the amount of money paid out (anything over 1000 is considered high dollar). They agreed that the "accident" was not within my control but still labeled as at-fault.

I found out a few years ago that your credit report is a factor in the rating process.....esspecially if you have combined auto and homeowner polices with the same company.

I've made several claims on my insurance for non-accident related things.

1) broken windshield
2) flat tire that was damaged beyond repair by tow truck
3) broken window by burglary

My rates never went up, and my insurance cashed out each claim. Even paid for 2 new tires when my one went flat because I told them tires have to be replaced in pairs; they agreed. I live in CA and here insurance rates are set by DMV points and points are only added for at fault accidents in excess of $1000 damage or with injury.

I keep a low ($100) comprehensive deductible so I can use it for non-accident claims. If I pay my insurance, I'm going to use it. I used Esurance. I have actually since switched TO Geico because I combined my policy with my girlfriend and we are paying half what we were separately.

Make sure it was a comprehensive claim, not a collision.

My old insurance company raised our rates after my wife hit a deer, 3 yrs later she managed to hit another again went up, 2 yrs later a deer hit her in the drivers door this time they dropped us. We had been with this company for 25 years only the 3 accidents, all out of our control, Found a new insurance company identical policy $200 a year less cost. Really you should shop around every so often and sometimes it pays.

I would drop them if I were you. I was in a bad motorcycle crash 1.5yrs ago that wasn't my fault(left hand turner). I was talking to my lawyer yesterday and he has a case where a multi car plan including a motorcycle that was stacked and after the husband was in a motorcycle crash they are refusing to pay out like a stacked plan is supposed to. I will never touch them. I was also involved in a small fender bender years ago where a car merged into my rear bumper from the merge lane and they deemed me 25% at fault, I had State Farm the other driver had Geico. I had scratches compared to the drivers entire CR-V bumper was ripped off by my Nissan Titan bumper. It wasn't worth fighting since they still paid out the 75% but was stupid and even the police said the driver was 100% at fault. They will do anything not to pay out...

I use a local agency, they are members of the community just like myself and do the shopping for me. I had a 05 Ranger and a 12 Accord, along with my 23 yr old daughter and her 13 Civic on my insurance. Last fall I traded the Ranger and Accord for my 2014 F350...and called the agent to switch vehicles yada yada. She put me with Travelers....full coverage on everything...Saving 800$ per year....on the Ranger I didn't even have full coverage
