Interior LED lighting question

I was afraid of that too...it was like 10 degrees out but I had just got back from an hour drive and left my truck running, so it was nice and toasty in the truck. Took my time and was careful and had no issues. The fronts have 2 clips that are accessible if you open the glasses compartment. I had to then remove the reflective shield to get my fingers in to remove the bulbs. The rear you just pull the plastic cover off with your hands. I at first thought I was going to rip the unit out of there, but it snapped right off with a good pull.

I just bought whatever they had at O'Reilly's. I had the LED and the incandescent in my hand, and decided to splurge and go LED. For now, I'm going to change it back to incandescent, but I'll certainly keep your "superbrightLED" resource in mind for whenever I get organized enough to plan ahead with an order online. I still prefer to shop locally in bricks and mortar stores... before they all disappear.
Beyond that... maybe I'm just an old fuddy duddy, but I don't get LEDs. They don't really save power, since most have resistors that discharge in heat all the power that the LED's didn't discharge in light. LED's don't last as long as their marketers LED us to believe. And to my old and failing eyes, the glare of brighter LED's is too harsh, making it actually harder to see. There is no question that the interior light is as bright as an operating room in your truck "after" photo above, but it appears I would be able to actually "see" better in your "before" photo.

What works for one individual won't work for another, I can completely understand your take on it. LEDs do save power over incandescent, albeit, depends on the LED that is being compared. I think it's like 95%-98% energy lost to heat in incandescent. LED is 60%-95% depending on LED. As far as them lasting, I've come to find out it's what you pay for. I have changed many interior house LEDs, many different brands, and I can say, some brands out perform over others in terms of light quality and life span.
This is my first go around with superbrightled.com LEDs, so I'm not sure how they will perform over the long run, but they weren't that expensive ($30 shipped for all the ones needed for interior) and I personally like the improvement it has given so far.

Very nice, those look just like the factory LED lighting in my wife's escape. I love hers, it's my favorite thing about that vehicle, and now I know where to get mine cheap. I totally understand y2k, but this color isn't like the cheap blue crap from parts stores 10+ years ago. I could not stand those.

No blue what so ever. I figured they'd have a hint of blue, but none to my eyes.
