The thing connected to the carb is from an aftermarket cruise control unit.

This appears to be a well loaded truck as you have a padded dash and a windshield washer button above you ignition key. Washers and padded dashes were not standard until 66. As for the access plate on the firewall it is to access the wiper arm linkages that are under the cowl.

i like to know what the numbers stamped in the bulkhead mean they seem upside down looking from the engine bay side looks like a 17 2 A or 4,also the wheels may be later and seem to be made in canada!!!,it does have the 1976 big disc brakes and calipers and the 74 power steering which i must say it stops on a sixpence and steers true and straight,i need to do the king pin bushes but not sure which ones i need to buy either 1965 or 1974 ( i did buy some 1965 ones so i may just buy some 1976 ones)is there a way to tell.being in nz buying stuff is not easy and i get all my stuff from rock auto which has proved to be good so far

Hi Gary,

Your wheels appear to be made by Accuride and are dated 1997 and 1999. They are 8-lug but have the "outie" nubs on them for caps so you would not be able to run the Type 1 "innie" caps like your truck would have originally had.

The part number for the seal (hood pad) is

C1TZ-16740-B .. Hood Pad

Most sheet metal panels are date stamped. Click on the link below and scroll down to "Decoding Ford sheet metal stampings"

For your truck either a 6 17 2A or 5 17 2A most likely.

Oh, and remember, buckets seats were optional so unless you have the extra holes in your floor board for the inner seat brackets then your truck likely came with a bench seat. All depends on if you have the extra holes or not.

Also, to the right of the small cowl hatch is a clip on the cowl - it's been painted over white, but it is one of two clips for the windshield washer hose to pass thru. Originally that clip would have been olive drab green.

Second picture down at this link.

John E. Mitchell Company made underdash add-on A/C units

1960s 1970s Underdash Aftermarket A/C Unit John E. Mitchell Mark IV Controls

The Camper Special emblem inserts were reproduced years ago. Rick Allen at Carolina Classics made up 300 pairs. He sold out of them some time back and doesn't have the dies any longer and does not plan to make any more. Some places still list them in their catalogs but show them as out of stock, like NPD. Rick said if anyone does show them as being in stock to make sure to call them first since he did not have any more and doubted any of the other dealers would either because nobody ever bought any in volume from him. Sounded like they were a slow mover so he decided to not have another batch made up.

I called NPD just now and they said the little "NR" on that web page means it is currently "Not Reproduced". Unknown availability.

I have been thinking about reproducing them myself. There is a TAP Plastics just down the street. I need to see if they can cut the plastic inserts from the right thickness and router the edge so it fits the bezel better. That would be step 1.

I bought this one just now so I could have a more pristine one to work from. The Graphics should not be a problem once I get a good scan of this one.
