That's entirely up to you. I have had both turbo and NA versions of our trucks; I can take either one myself. Yeah, a few extra ponies is nice, but there is something to be said for a cleaner engine bay with less expensive parts to break.
There isn't much to it, unbolt and remove. You'll have to rework the exhaust, probably relocate the CDR and come up with an air intake. And as mentioned earlier possibly turn the fuel back a little.
The exhaust will actually be the biggest hurdle as it's specific to the turbo; you'll need a Y pipe to replace the crossover and down pipe.
Next question--is there a step by step procedure for removing the turbocharger posted on this site?
Hey, if you do remove it, let me know. I might be interested in buying it. I'm always in the market for another turbo kit for one of these trucks...
That being said... /why/ remove it? Seriously. It's a significant power improvement, and helps fuel economy at highway speeds. With some tuning, you can get quite a bit more power safely out of these engines, but the key piece is the turbo.
