stock cams 97 vs 01

ive got 2 engines that im cannibalizing into one.
the 01 block has a blown head gasket, for the 2nd time.
my 97 block was a great runner before I wrecked the truck
this is a cali block with the correct injectors for my 01 ECU.

going to be bringing the 97 up to the 01 standards to install into my 01 F350.

my question is, how different are the cam specs between the 2?

I know the 97 has the fuel pump eccentric, but I will be running e-fuel.
any insight would be awesome.

thanks!

I don't think there are any differences. But I don't know for sure.

I'd call Matt at gear head and talk to him. I don't see if you have a tuner or not but you could mention it to him and see what he says. Other then the fuel pump lob I'm not sure.

I'm doing a 94.5 to drop into my 2000 SD [LINK]. I know of no difference in cam specs, but there are plenty of other differences to contend with. If you have an 8-bolt intake on the heads, you have a problem to resolve - the intake plenums. The front cover is likely different from the SD engine, as is the oil pickup tube. The driver-side exhaust manifold is different, but the passenger side is identical. The HPOP is different, and this is where you need to take a close look at your front cover as well. I know of no difference with the front cover in relation to the HPOP - but because of other differences, it warrants looking into.

As for the fuel pump - a freeze plug is all you need to deal with that. Riffraff Diesel carries the parts needed to convert OBS blocks to SD blocks.

I have had another set of 97 heads off the engine and they were identical to my 01 heads.
now that my 87 is done, I can get to work on my 01.
im hoping the HPOP reservoir will swap over to the cover,
I want to use everything I can off the 01 block. keeping my budget to a min.

I know the pre 96 blocks are different than the 96+, dipstick hole in the pan appears to be in the same space.

thanks for the pointers, ill be diving into this right after the new year.
