Exhaust cutouts

I saw a pair of electric controlled cutouts installed on a car on one of those reality shows we all hate. They looked and worked pretty slick. Here's one version I found on the interweb. Apparently they are manufactured from aluminum and I wonder how they would hold up. https://static.summitracing.com/glob....jpg?rep=False

I'm thinking the same thing about cutouts. I'm going to follow your thread, this is a great site to learn. You brought up a good subject.

I used Doug Thorley 3"electric cutouts on mine. They have been in around 5 or 6 years. They are made of stainless and They seal excellent with no leaks after this much time. I can't remember the pricing but it was up there. To me it is worth it just to play with when I'm at a show or someplace that I can get away with it!
I wired it to a rocker switch under the dash. It came included.

A buddy just put them on his 56 with a 351C engine. They work just fine but they are not as loud as he thought they would be. Could be that his regular exhaust system is already fairly loud.
As for the concern about aluminum...cylinder heads are aluminum and seem to handle the heat just fine.

Sorry for the late response, just getting off. The DMH ones sealed good to me, the problem I had was the installer installed them aiming the wrong direction. Because of this, I kept burning up the wiring. So make sure to aim the dumps straight down and not crossing, my headers also were burning up the wiring so make sure where you route it. I love them on the vette, loud on the street, quite going through the neighborhood. L8R ZFLASH
