I have just shy of 200 miles since the oil change that made me discover the head gasket leak. Dip stick is still a 1/4" below the full hole where it's been. I do have oil again but it's not puddling everywhere, it's not dripping on the exhaust or blowing under the chassis as of right now. Here's some pics of it...oh what to do?

Now I have this feeling most of yous are gonna say I'm crazy and that's not a leak it's just showing her age and don't worry about it. See I'm different I bought the truck new off the lot with 3miles on it and up till 150,600 miles it's been bone dry with not a single sign of leaking anywhere. Then at 150,700 miles I do a oil change and there's oil EVERYWHERE and now at 150,893 miles you can see oil on the back of the block and weeping down towards the starter again so in my eyes I have a major leak it needs to be fixed asap

Was that post with the pictures written in English?

You either need to find the exact source of the leak or pay a trusted mechanic to find it. Then you can decide how to proceed from there. Is it just accidentally overfilling the oil during that oil change? If it's a real leak, is it a simple part swap? A head job? A full rebuild? If a full rebuild would be required, would it actually be worth it?

No i got under the truck to drain old oil when I seen the leak all over the chassis. I soaked everything in Dawn dish soap and then power washed everything. I then changed the oil and filter and now have 200miles since then and the pictures are showing the leak is coming down the block again. I looked numerous times now and I know for a fact it's not the valve cover, the valley is bone dry also. The only place I see it coming from is between the block and head right where I got the picture. The only way to dig further is too remove the entire intake plenum so I can physically see the head and valve cover, then I can say ok the valve cover is dry the aluminum head is clean and oil is only at the mating surface so then I'm 100% sure it's the head gasket leaking oil

Both heads or one only? I wonder if there are oil channels/ports around the perimeter of the head that can start to seep, weep, or otherwise blow by the gasket. I really don't know the 5.4L hardly at all. But sounds like a head gasket job at least.

From what I found from other forums (crown vic, Ford lighting) there are oil passages on the perimeter of the head and for some reason on the passenger rear the top head bolt loosens up/stretches/cracks and this of course causes the head to warp and then oil weeps past the head gasket and leaks out

It's common on the 4.6's in the crown vic/ panther platform, from all the idling and hard use while they are in service.

For the cost of a head job, you can get a new motor for a few hundred more.

Yes I'll need a complete passenger head job. But while I'm in the engine I'm gonna do the driver's side also

Since my last post till this morin b I've lost about 1/4 of a quart of oil, oil is dripping down from the head and it's paddling around the inspection plate on the transmission. I added the oil to top it off and went to the dealer and bought a new pvc valve because someone stated mabove to change it because of pressure build up. So I installed that and I'll watch it the next few days and see what happens, I checked coolant and engine oil and the trans fluid and it's all good no mixing of anything

Smelled oil last night on the exhaust, checked today and I have oil spray all over the under carriage again! It's all the way back to the hitch, all over the rear axle and backing plates for the brakes....funny thing is its not showing low on the dip stick? Looks like I can't keep babying the leak and I'm gonna have to replace the motor or just do the head gaskets, wish summer would get here soon

Wasted 26 dollars on a new pvc valve over a week ago, and checked all hoses that I can see above the intake. Only thing I can't see is under the plenum so if Ford has a rubber line or something under it then it might be that, but with my luck lately I'm sure it's the typical head gasket leak
