4.6 differences
Ok I have a question. I am looking for a 4.6 for my 2001 Expedition and it seems that it's easier to come by a used engine out of a car. The only two I seem to be able to find are out of an 08 crown vic and a Ford reman that was for an 01 to 03 mustang(what the owner told me). Now other than using my intake, exhaust manifolds and possibly my oil pan is there any reason that either one of the above mentioned engine won't work and if they won't then can any one explain the differences and what I need to look for.

Might be small differences on how stuff connects, the only way to know for sure is to compare the heads or the engines side by side. Of course, the internal configuration may be slightly different as well, as in different style pistons, cams and so on to give a different performance depending on application. Engines in trucks/SUVs tend to be tuned for torque and pulling, while in cars they tend to be tuned more for horsepower and rpm. Specially if it's in a sportscar like Mustang.
